Following the Tiger Ace, the Germans on the retreat at Falaise pocket and American paratroopers. I was less positive about those.Īs I said there are three small campaigns this time around. After finding servers without NAT trouble and playing I really got a good impression of those gamemodes (which I'll elaborate on, keep your panties on) and it was time for to try out the campaign and the new units. I wanted to briefly try the new multiplayer modes but sadly there was a message that told me there's no AI for those so I had to engage in multiplayer. After an installation that took way too long (it felt like an hour but it was probably 30 mins) I finally got to playing it. I immediately grabbed somebody and went to buy it in the store, sadly I live 25 kms from a respectable game store and my parents wouldn't take me there in the car so I had to cycle. In those Tales of Valor you would command a squad in an important fight or happening in the history of the war.įriday I came to a shocking discovery, the game was released on thursday! I had always thought it would be released on the 14th. Instead of one big campaign or two smaller ones, they chose for three Tales of Valor (hence the name). They promised tank battles, defence against waves of bot enemies and a gamemode not too much unlike DotA.Īnother point I had mixed feelings about was the campaigns that they promised. I wanted the multiplayer modes the most, since I played a lot of multiplayer with friends of mine and we often tried to, well, simulate the defence against waves of enemies by one person assuming the role of defence and one assuming the role of offence. I had mixed feelings for most things because the Direct Fire seemed like a gimmick to me and I thought it would make the game from an RTS to a tank simulator. There had been a lot of promises, for instance the Direct Fire mechanic, which would let you actually aim for your units and the new multiplayer modes. So let's start.īeing an avid fanboy of Company of Heroes (CoH) I had been following this for a while, however misinformation was present lots with CoH players. I'm back with another 'review', well, more of a summary of the game and first impressions.
